FORM AND COLOUR

About Eamann

Eamann Cosgrave is a self-taught painter based in Ireland, working primarily in landscape and nature-inspired abstraction. Over more than a decade of practice, his work has developed a distinctive language of form and colour, drawing on the ocean, mountains, and shoreline of the Irish landscape as its central inspiration.

His paintings have been shown in solo exhibitions, reflecting a body of work that treats composition — its shapes, textures, and colour relationships — as worthy of attention in its own right, rather than as a direct or literal depiction of place.

The main inspiration for my work is Nature as in the landscape around me, from the macro elements such as the ocean, the hills and mountains, to the micro elements such as plants, rocks, seaweed. When I paint, I strive to construct the picture with two main aspects in mind: form and colour. My paintings are almost abstractions of Nature, in which compositions of form and colour are to be experienced for their own sake and not merely as elements dominated by figurative depictions.
